Movement In A Digital Age
Motionhouse, the world class dance-circus production company, was founded in 1988 by Louise Richards and Kevin Finnan MBE, here in Warwickshire. This widely renowned company tours across the globe, with theatre shows, outdoors productions and visionary large scale events.
The use of dance and immersive technology fused together to create something special - was exactly what Motionhouse wanted to explore as part of their application for funding from the Innovate UK Coventry and Warwickshire Launchpad programme. They wanted to focus on ''cutting-edge integration of digital technology and live performance in its next multimedia touring production, Hidden.''
This was a 4 month R&D project, supporting Motionhouse with further using technology to create immersive worlds within their live stage performances. The vision being 12 screens, of which 10 move whilst being projected on. Those screens becoming like sets, but also allowing for so much more in performance, storytelling and transforming environments.
Hidden was launched in February 2025, with its premiere taking place at Warwick Arts Centre. The following week, we caught up with Louise Richards, for a short interview about this cutting-edge project.
*Hidden is co-commissioned by FABRIC, Birmingham Hippodrome and Warwick Arts Centre, along with support from the John Ellerman Foundation
